Sella Canoe Downhill Routes

From the Arriondas bridge, choose the route that best suits you: a short and peaceful descent, the classic family route, or the long stretch for the more athletic.

The Sella canoe descent starts in Arriondas, At the same point where the famous International Sella Descent begins, the river flows down towards Ribadesella. Along the way, you'll find river beaches to stop for lunch, pools for swimming, and riverside bars for refreshments. These are the three routes, depending on how far you want to go.

Short

Arriondas – Triongo · 4 km · 2 h

The shortest route, ideal for a first visit, going with very young children, or when you have less time. Enough to enjoy the river at a leisurely pace.

Recreational and family-friendly

Arriondas – Nuevo Toraño · 9 km · 3 h

The recreational and family-friendly route is the most popular. Plenty of time to paddle, stop for lunch, take a swim, and enjoy the surroundings at your own pace. Suitable for everyone.

For athletes

Arriondas – Llovio · 17 km · 5 h

The longer route, to Llovio (near Ribadesella). Designed for those who want to paddle harder and complete the classic section. It's best to start early to allow plenty of time.

Important for the long route (Llovio): It is essential to have gone through New Toraño before 3:00 PM; Otherwise, there won't be enough time to complete the route. In all cases, you must be out of the river before 5:30 pm.

Which route should I choose?

If you're traveling with young children or short on time, the one at Triongo (4 km). For a full day out with the family, the one at New Toraño (9 km) It's the best option. And if you enjoy paddling and want the full experience, go for it. Llovio (17 km), leaving soon. In all cases, the canoes are self-bailing, anti-roll models with padded seats, much more comfortable and safe than the classic ones.
